5G-MOBIX and 5G-DRIVE at V2X workshop in Tampere
Emily Hemmings, ERTICO - ITS Europe, presented the complementary focus areas of the 5G-MOBIX project during the co-organised 5G-DRIVE workshop on V2X on 17 December 2019 in Tampere, Finland.
The main objective of the workshop was to showcase 5G-DRIVE’s key outcomes, progresses and plans on the V2X topics and to builds synergy with 5G-MOBIX, sharing lessons learned, insights, challenges and opportunities seen in the V2X sector in the 5G era.
The workshop included a demo and outdoor showcase in the walking distance of the the workshop location. Snow and cold weather conditions didn't create any obstacles to the testing of the automated vehicle eLvira.
The demo included the following scenario:
eLvira automated vehicle is driving through to fog. The car is switched between fully automated and remote operated mode according to the fog warning CAM messages. When the car encounters an obstacle (smoke tent depicts the fog) it stops. The remote control centre (located inside the bus acting as Traffic Management Centre) get a fog warning alarm message and it overtakes remote control over the vehicle.
eLvira is using hybrid ITS G5 and the specific LTE network provided by Business Tampere.
