5G-MOBIX presents the results of its work in a joint webinar
One hundred and seventy people, including the European Commission, attended the webinar “5G for Cooperative, Connected and Automated Mobility (CCAM)" on 6 November 2020, hosted by 5G-PPP. Together with 5GCroCo and 5G-CARMEN, 5G-MOBIX was excited to present its ongoing work and the white paper produced by the three H2020-ICT-18-2018 5G PPP corridor projects, of which MOBIX is part.
An important milestone for 5G-MOBIX in 2020 is definitely the presentation of the White Paper written jointly with 5G-CARMEN and 5GCroCo, introducing the scope, use cases, trial sites and particularities of each of the three H2020-ICT-18-2018 5G PPP corridor projects.
The White Paper specifically focuses on identifying the technical, operational, business, regulatory, security/privacy and legal challenges of provisioning CCAM services over 5G connectivity in cross-border areas, and proposing potential solutions and mitigating mechanisms for each of them, based on state of the art technological enablers. “In this context, 5G-MOBIX addresses the key challenges of cross-border CCAM operation over 5G, by investigating testing and validating multiple network architecture implementations and configurations, state of the art 5G features and CCAM application level enablers as well as defining appropriate business models and stakeholders’ relationships to foster and speed-up the adoption of 5G solutions for CCAM in highway and cross-border environments.”, said Konstantinos Trichias, 5G-MOBIX Technical Coordinator.
The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.”
This white paper, a joint effort by the three projects, presents their preliminary results, based on currently available technological enablers, with the capacity to mitigate and/or resolve the above mentioned challenges. It also identifies and elaborates on the main concerns and challenges arising from deploying advanced CCAM use cases at regional borders.
